The school year is officially underway. Classes started for all those who have night classes last night, but for the rest of the us, it's business as usual for the start of the Fall 2009 semester today. Jim is one lucky duck - he's got no classes on Tuesdays or Thursdays. I have it pretty easy myself; only one morning class both days (9:30-10:50) and then the KUR general meetings at 11. (Our other days, however... we are swamped with classes and work. Not fun). KUR had it's first executive board meeting last night at 6, and the first general meeting was today (like previously stated). Good to see the old gang today. We have a ton of newbies, which is awesome! Hopefully they all stick with it and really enjoy the college radio style as much as the rest of us do. I felt a little apprehensive leading the meeting today. I'm not sure why; I'm a pretty open guy, not too shy; maybe the title of "president" and the potential responsibility is just freaking me out. I'm sure it gets easier to manage with time. But anyway, we're sponsoring a ton of great events and organizations, as well as introducing new ways to hear us. We've got ticket contests, live music, special on-air features, and so much more to come. Check it all out on our official web site: kur.kutztown.edu. This may be the year, folks. The year we finally get our FCC License. License, please!
What else have we done since we all moved in? Granted, Jim's been here for two weeks already, so I'm sure everything is routine for him now. For me, move-in is going fine. We all partied our asses off and spent way more money than we should have this past weekend. You only live once, right? So why not splurge a bit! Our hangovers have subsided and we've all cleansed ourselves of any remaining sin, so now we're ready. It's the new year. It's time for college life all over again.
